WARRENSBURG, MO (April 5, 2010) – The University of Central Missouri will host an evening with wildlife biologist Jeff Corwin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in Nahm Auditorium, W.C. Morris 299. Corwin’s presentation is the highlight of the UCM’s Earth Week 2011 celebration, “Change your behavior, Change our world.” This event is free and open to the public.
Corwin, a biologist, Emmy Award-winning producer and host on Animal Planet, will lecture about his most recent book and MSNBC documentary, 100 Heartbeats, which addresses the issue of the world’s endangered wildlife on the brink of extinction, with Corwin chronicling the impact of the environmental crisis on animals.
Corwin has traveled the world exploring themes in animal behavior, including sound, smell, diet, defense, attack and survival. Named in People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” and included on the highly regarded Entertainment Weekly “It List,” he is also an expert in rainforest animals.
A book signing is planned after Corwin’s presentation. His book, 100 Heartbeats, may be purchased at the UCM University Store in the Elliott Union or at an event. Corwin also plans to lecture to students from the Warrensburg School District.
All those planning to attend the presentation must obtain a free ticket. Tickets may be picked up at Elliott Union information desk, or reserve by phone at (660)-543-4052. Tickets will be available to UCM students beginning Wednesday, April 6 (limit one ticket per student); faculty and staff on Thursday, April 7 (limit two tickets per person); and to the general public beginning on Friday, April 8 (limit two tickets per person).
